Sellafield award Parker HVAC framework contract

Parker Technical Services and Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick have been commissioned to provide HVAC functions for the Sellafield nuclear power plant site as part of an 18-year framework contract.

Parker has been selected to provide design, supply, installation and commissioning services for all heating, ventilation and air conditioning needs at Sellafield as the site is decommissioned over the space of 100 years up to 2120.

The HVAC framework marks the appointment of the first key delivery partners by Sellafield’s Programme and Project Partners (PPP) to manage the site decommission.

The award is part of a Multi Project Procurement (MPP) model employed at Sellafield to encourage long-term collaboration for the site.

Eldon Garnett, a representative for the PPP management board, said he welcomed the first framework awarded under the model.

He said, “Looking at the responses during the HVAC tender process, there is clearly huge enthusiasm right across the supply chain to be part of the PPP team, addressing the wider Sellafield mission and we look forward to welcoming more Key delivery partners in the months ahead.”

EJ Parker Technical Services managing director Stuart Driscoll added, “We are delighted to be appointed as one of the first Key Delivery Partners by PPP.”

“Our team has large, complex HVAC experience and our values of people, safety and service are a good alignment for this opportunity. We are looking forward to working closely with the PPP Lot partners, KDP’s and supply chain members to successfully deliver this framework.”

Mark Bullock, chief executive officer of UK construction services with Balfour Beatty, said the group’s place on the framework would allow the company to demonstrate its expertise and knowledge for sustainable delivery of HVAC functions.

He said, “We look forward to supporting as a key delivery partner; helping to provide greater economic and social impact across the region for many years to come.”

PPP’s work at Sellafield is intended to create a clean and safe environment at the Sellafield site for future generations.
