March was appointed to complete a large relocation project in Europe for their client, a chemical manufacturer.

The project comprised a number of different stages and processes, including the demolition of building, removal and re-installation of process equipment, removal of utilities, and installation of new heating and cooling systems.

Solution

March oversaw the demolition of one client building, and the removal of equipment from an additional five buildings.

Some equipment was re-installed by the March team in new locations, whilst the rest was decommissioned or shipped to sister sites.

The existing steam boiler was replaced with four new medium temperature boilers in different buildings, and new pipework installed to serve the updated plant layout.

A new cooling system was also installed. Around 90% of the pipework for the heating and cooling was installed in cellars and tunnels.

Two adiabatic coolers, weighing 13 tonnes each, were installed onto the roof of one of the buildings.

Results

The March team completed over 50,000 hours on the project, without a Lost Time Accident, and to the satisfaction of the client.
