Transformer Oil Replacement and Electrical Network Maintenance for a Food Manufacturing Facility

Outcome

A major food manufacturing facility improved the reliability and longevity of its electrical distribution network through a planned transformer oil replacement and electrical maintenance programme.

Power Testing, a MARCH company, completed transformer maintenance, HV and LV asset inspections, protection testing and network maintenance during a single shutdown period, maximising the value of the outage while returning the site to service ahead of schedule.

Key Results

  • Transformer oil successfully replaced
  • 1,000 litres of mineral oil safely managed
  • HV circuit breaker maintenance completed
  • LV switchboard and ACB maintenance completed
  • Protection testing carried out across HV and LV systems
  • Site returned to service ahead of schedule
  • Zero incidents recorded throughout delivery
  • Multiple maintenance activities completed within a single outage

Challenge

Following a failed oil sample, the customer required a complete oil replacement on Transformer B.

The works needed to be delivered during a planned outage within a live 24/7 food manufacturing environment where electrical reliability was critical. The customer also wanted to maximise the shutdown window by completing additional HV and LV maintenance activities at the same time, reducing the need for future operational disruption.
